Square Knot vs. Granny Knot
When we first learn the Square Knot and the Granny Knot, we use a single strand. In this case, our left strand of rope is blue, and the right strand is red.
Once you’ve gone one rope over the other, remember to go through, which means pulling the end through the loop all the way around.
Square Knot
Blue over Red, Blue over Red
Left over right, right over left.
Left over right, right over left.

Granny Knot
Blue over red, red over blue
Left over right, left over right
Left over right, left over right
Granny L-R L-R
In the examples above, we started with blue over red (left over right), but remember that this works in the inverse too.
Let's look at what that looks like in reverse. In the videos below, we start with the red rope (the right rope going over the left rope).
