Here's the loop. Assuming the bight is behind, we'll make a loop by twisting the running end. The way you twist the rope affects the outcome.

Here, twist so that the running end is behind in the loop you are making. Show correctly on the left (see picture above; in the picture below, my thumb covers the cross making it hard to see) — the running end is behind in the loop.
